Proverbs: A Life of Wisdom
“So now, my children, listen to me, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.” Proverbs 5:7
What if it were possible to spend time learning from the wisest man who has ever walked the face of the earth?
What if you could hear his thoughts about marriage, family, relationships, wealth, home life, work, rest, play, children, creation, and everything else under the sun? It's possible. Because the collected wisdom of King Solomon may be found in a book in the Bible called Proverbs, we don't need a time machine to travel back for the conversation, we just need some time. Time to root around the many sayings we find here, time to meditate upon them, time to immerse ourselves in them, so that we may find and live a life of wisdom. The good life. Because that's what we all want, isn't it, a good life?
While preaching a sermon series called The Whole Story, one sermon per book of the Bible, Pastor Matthew arrived at the book of Proverbs. That Sunday he challenged his congregation to join him in reading one chapter each day from Solomon's collection of wisdom. And he committed to write a daily devotional for them, drawn from a portion of the chapter for that day.
The book you hold in your hands pulls chose devotionals together in the hopes that you will find within its pages a pathway to a life of wisdom. By God's grace, and by the power of his Holy Spirit, a pathway to the good life.
