confession and pardon
confession of sin
Confess your sins to God :
Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done, and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are repentant, according to your promises declared to mankind, in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
Book of Common Prayer (1552)
assurance of pardon
Now receive these words of comfort from God :
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:8-10
adoration
Sing this praise to God :
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above you heavenly hosts;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
