Our Hearts Are Restless, Until…

Micah chapter seven, verses eighteen through twenty —

Who is a God like you,
forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion
for the remnant of his inheritance?
He does not hold on to his anger forever
because he delights in faithful love.
He will again have compassion on us;
he will vanquish our iniquities.
You will cast all our sins
into the depths of the sea.
You will show loyalty to Jacob
and faithful love to Abraham,
as you swore to our ancestors
from days long ago.

In a response of adoration, pray this prayer of praise to God.

Great are you, O Lord, and greatly to be praised; great is your power, and of your wisdom there is no end.

And man, being a part of your creation, desires to praise you — man, who bears about with him his mortality, the witness of his sin, even the witness that you resist the proud — yet man, this part of your creation, desires to praise you.

You move us to delight in praising you;
for you have made us for yourself,
and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.

Amen.
