Strive Together With Me

Paul, though a gifted and appointed Apostle, understands his desperate need for people to strive with him in the work. In prayer.

30 Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, through our Master, Jesus, the Messiah, and through the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in prayers to God on my behalf. 31 Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, that my ministry to Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 and that, by God’s will, I may come to you with joy and be refreshed together with you.

33 May the God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
(Romans 15:30-33, Christian Standard Bible)

Christopher Ash:

We must encourage one another to be realistic that intercessory prayer for gospel work is costly. It is a struggle.

O. Hallesby wrote that, to strive in prayer for a person or for a cause means ... to live, feel and suffer with that person or for that cause. That alone requires a great struggle. I have rarely wanted to go to a prayer meeting, although I usually go home glad that I went.

Let’s strive together,
in prayer,
for the greatest cause.
