that your joy may be full

abide in my love

As the Father has loved me,
so have I loved you.
Abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments,
you will abide in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

These things I have spoken to you,
that my joy may be in you,
and that your joy may be full.

This is my commandment,
that you love one another,
as I have loved you.

Jesus (John 15:9-12)

Some observations:

In the same way that the Father loves Jesus, Jesus loves you.
In. The. Same. Way!

Abide in the love of Jesus.
Remain there. Stay there always.
In. The. Love. Of. Jesus.

Part of how we abide in the love of Jesus will be by keeping his commandments. So…listen to his teaching, and do what he says.
Homework: read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John’s biographies of Jesus.

The reason he is saying these things to you is
so that HIS joy will be in you,
and so that you can be happy
.
As in, really happy. Full happiness.

And, “By the way,” he says, “here’s one of those commandments I was talking about: do you see the way that I love you? Love each other like that.
Love each other, just. Like. That.
