Right Where We Are

This is what Yahweh says:

Stand by the roadways and look.

Ask about the ancient paths,

“Which is the way to what is good?”

Then take it

and find rest for yourselves.

(from the prophet Jeremiah, chapter 6, verse 16)

One of my favorite little films of all time is a thirty-five minute documentary called Live Godspeed. I highly commend it to you.

Within it, Eugene Peterson riffs off of the prophet’s words above, and with a smile on his white-bearded, wrinkled face and with a bright twinkle in his eyes you just know comes from a life fully lived, he softly shares:

There’s no place on this earth that’s without potential for holiness.

Or maybe, the potential for unearthing holiness, right where we are, with these people we are with.

Let’s go do some digging.
