He Is Mindful of Us

1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
7 the flocks and the herds
and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
(New Living Translation, Ps 8:1, 3–9)

Meditating on this passage this morning produces fresh amazement that God should consider me, and that he is truly mindful of us (v. 4).

How could this be? Because we have been made in His image. Because He gave us charge over everything He has made. Because He established us as caretakers and stewards of His creation. Because He gave us the mission to advance His glory and kingdom over the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Huh. Considered this way, it actually makes sense that He is mindful of us. Why wouldn't He be!?

Dear friend, if you are a child of our Father, go into this day filled with joy that you are on His mind today, all day, every day. He has your back. Further, treat every other image-bearer you meet as the precious recipient of such thoughtfulness as well.
