Read this this morning...
For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel. (Ezra 7:10, English Standard Version)
Almost ten years ago, Susan was pregnant with a little boy (though we didn't know yet this child would be our Ezra). I was sitting in our rocking chair by the front window of our apartment one morning, while we were in seminary, and I read this same passage. It struck me in that moment that this would be a wonderful thing to pray into the life of a little boy, if that is what God would provide to us. To ask the Father to raise up a child into the heritage of his namesake, a boy and then man, that in his time, would set his heart to study the Bible, to live the Bible, and to teach the Bible to his contemporaries. In that moment, I began to pray it would be so for the child Susan was carrying. And I've been praying it into Ezra's life ever since.
May it be so for you, little man, may it be so.
