I was struck by just a sampling of my reading in the Sacred Writings this morning, and the theme of comfort and love found in the Father and the Son:
Psa. 90:1 Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! 2 Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. 14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. Psa. 94:18 I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. 19 When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Is. 42:1 “Look at my servant, (Jesus), whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations. 2 He will not shout or raise his voice in public. 3 He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged. 4 He will not falter or lose heart until justice prevails throughout the earth. Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction.” John 10:10 My [Jesus] purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.
