It is easy to read and hear the story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand and focus on the great miracle Jesus performed, creating bread for what was probably around 20,000 people. Hey, that's usually where I have focused my attention.
But this morning, something else in this story struck me. Namely, how natural it was for Jesus to talk with people about the kingdom of God. How easy it was for him to share the Gospel with people who came to him and wanted to hang around him. Take note:
But the crowds found out where he was going, and they followed him. He welcomed them and taught them about the Kingdom of God...(Luke 9:11a, NLT-SE)
I love Jesus. I love watching him live and interact with people.
They hear about where he is hanging out, and want to hang with him. And he welcomes them. He draws them in. He's grateful they've come. And what is the first thing on his mind? The Gospel. The Kingdom. He can't wait to share about its glories and beauties and reality.
I want to be like Jesus. Welcoming. Sharing. Proclaiming.
It's always a great time to tell people about the King and his Kingdom.
